Title: Request for Funding – House Appropriations Committee (FY 2022)
Description: A request has been made to the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) Subcommittee for funding assistance to complete the Major Avenue Water Main and Street Rehabilitation Project.
Village of Chicago Ridge
10455 S. Ridgeland Avenue
Chicago Ridge, IL 60415
Requested Amount: $740,000 for construction
Scope of Work: If funded, the proposed project on Major Avenue (111th Street to 109th Street) would include costs to install new water mains (8-inch diameter), water valve vaults, fire hydrants for fire protection, water service connections, and to perform full depth asphalt replacement including spot curb and gutter repairs for better drainage and to improve sidewalk crossings for ADA accessibility. The water mains along this segment of Major Avenue have a history of breaks resulting in water service outages that are costly to the Village. The benefits of this project include improved reliability of water service, better fire protection, improved access to transit and employment opportunities, and overall quality of life. By addressing Major Avenue with assistance of federal funds, this will allow the Village’s annual water and sewer fund and street rehabilitation budget to be reallocated to other areas which need rehabilitation.
