Halloween 2020

Like so many activities and events that have changed this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chicago Ridge families can expect Halloween 2020 to look a bit different as well.

Trick-or-treating hours will be from 2 – 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 31st.   For those who ARE welcoming trick-or-treaters please leave your porch light on or display the GREEN sign in your window or on your front door.  If you do not wish to participate in trick-or-treating this year, we ask that you leave your porch light off or display the RED sign. These signs are available at the Village Hall or by clicking the link below.  We ask that all trick-or-treaters respect the sign postings and the wishes of your neighbors.

The following information and suggestions are being provided to keep both our children and those providing candy to them as safe as possible.

  • We ask that everyone, trick-or-treaters as well as homeowners, wear an appropriate COVID-19 mask when interacting with each other.
  • Please do not leave bowls of candy outside for multiple people to touch.
  • We strongly suggest that the person handing out candy consider wearing gloves or using hand sanitizer while distributing candy.

Please see the IDPH Halloween recommendations for more information.

As another option this year, the Village of Chicago Ridge in conjunction with a number of Village organizations will be hosting a no contact, drive-thru, candy distribution at our Haunted Village Hall.  This event will take place between 5 – 8 p.m. on Halloween.  Each organization will have a decorated vehicle parked on 105th Street between Oxford and Ridgeland Avenue.  Cars will enter via Oxford Avenue and then proceed through the “Haunted Hall” experience, exiting through the Police Department parking lot to Washington Avenue.  Volunteers wearing masks and gloves will bring packaged candy to individual vehicles.   Participants are expected to remain in their vehicles at all times.  Those who do not will run the risk of being consumed by Zombies.

Also, the Chicago Ridge Mall will be sponsoring a “Drive-Thru Boo Halloween” on Saturday, October 31st between 1:00 – 2:00 pm.  This will be a no-contact, family-friendly event where families can enjoy a safe Halloween from their car.  For more information, please visit the Mall website at

And lastly, the Chicago Ridge Park District will have a “Haunted Golf Course” at Ball Fore located at 6701 W. 107th Street the last 2 weekends in October.   Wear a costume and golf for free.   After the game, pick up your free pumpkin at hole #18 and Spin the Wheel to win a prize!  Social distancing guidelines will be followed.  Reservations are recommended.  Please call either 708-671-1397 or 708-423-3959 or visit for more information.

Whether you choose one or all of the above events, we hope this provides a healthy, safe and Happy Halloween experience.

 Thank you and stay well!
