What is the Illinois Municipal League and why is it important?

Founded in 1913, the Illinois Municipal League is the statewide organization that represents the 1,298 cities, towns and villages in Illinois.  The League serves as the voice of all municipalities on matters of common interest that are being proposed on both the State and Federal levels.  It also puts on numerous educational programs throughout the year for the benefit of local elected officials.

Since 2016, I have been elected to the IML Board of Directors and have felt honored to serve in this statewide role for the benefit of my community and other communities throughout the State.  I consider it a privilege to work alongside Mayors from across the State in advocating for the benefit of all Illinois municipalities.

The following video presents insights into the role the League plays in influencing policy decisions that impact all Illinois residents. (Watch for the Chicago Ridge water tower!)
