Although the village website deals with our communities ordinances, here are a few ordinances that are commonly questioned by residents. We have also made our ordinances available through our codification repository
MuniCode.
Parking
Any vehicle parked on village streets must have current registration (license plates) as well as a valid village sticker. Vehicles cannot block fire hydrants or sidewalks and must be at least 20 feet from the crosswalk at intersection. Vehicles must not be parked on the street when there is 2 inches or more accumulation of snow. Overweight vehicles are not to be parked in any residential area of Chicago Ridge.
Village Stickers
Any vehicle parked overnight in Chicago Ridge must have a valid village sticker from the town in which it is registered. Chicago Ridge Village Stickers expired on June 30 of every calendar year. New residents have 30 days to obtain and display the village sticker. Residents also have 30 days to purchase a transfer sticker for a new vehicle. The village sticker must be displayed in the lower right/passenger side of the windshield.
Curfew
Anyone 17 years of age or younger must obey the village’s hours of curfew. Curfew hours are Sunday through Thursday after 10:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday after 11:30 p.m. Citations can be issued to any juvenile violating these hours.
Burning
Burning of garbage or leaves is strictly prohibited.
Lawn Sprinkling
Watering restrictions are in effect from May 15 until September 15 of each year except between the hours of 7 a.m. until 11 a.m., and 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. In an emergency condition, residents with odd addresses can water on odd calendar days and residents with even addresses can water on even calendar days during the hours of 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., and 8 p.m. until 11 p.m.
