Youth
Services
The Chicago Ridge Police Department thinks
strongly about investing in the future of our children. With
this in mind, our agency provides many services to our area
youth.
V.E.G.A. Program
V.E.G.A. (Violence Education Gang Awareness) is a
relatively new program that deals with helping teens cope with
the peer pressures that confront them. V.E.G.A. is presented
to junior high students at both Our Lady of the Ridge and
Finley Junior High School.
B.A.D.G.E. Program
The B.A.D.G.E. Program (Balanced Approach to Drug
and Gang Elimination) is a new program designed open the doors
of communication between the youth in our community and the
police department. Area youth are invited to have
identification cards made and sign a pledge promising to obey
their parents, teachers and the law. Recreational activities
will take place with the police officers acting as chaperones
to our youth. This program was funded by President John
Stroger, Jr. and the Cook County Board with a grant of
$134,000.00. Please continue to check this site for upcoming
events involving the B.A.D.G.E. Program.
Cadet Program
The Cadet Program is offered to minors sixteen to
twenty years of age. Once the candidates pass an application
screening, they will be exposed to a possible future career in
law enforcement. Cadets take part in classroom exercises as
well field training sessions. Anyone interested in joining the
Cadet Program should contact the Police Department’s
Juvenile Division.
