Length of Time in Community: 47 years

Background in Community Issues and Activities:

  • Member of the Beautifications Committee which helped to initiate awards to business owners for taking pride in appearance of their property, as well as the community wide clean up held on a yearly basis for all residents.

  • In 1976 interviewed long-standing residents of the Community, as well as prominent members of Chicago Ridge. This oral history was done on tape and presented to Mrs. Anne Pote Head Librarian to be kept for future historians.

  • I have been a volunteer at the Chicago Ridge Children’s Christmas party for the last 14 years and a Fest Committee member since its inception.

  • In the past, as a member of the Fire Department Auxiliary I volunteered and helped to co-ordinate Operation Santa Claus.

  • Co-Chairperson of the 70th Anniversary Dance held in 1984.

  • My tenor with the Chamber of Commerce of Chicago Ridge helped to unite the business’ within the confines of town into a viable organization. The signs welcoming you to Chicago Ridge were a part of an effort to put Chicago Ridge in the public eye. We invited candidates to a public forum and to meet with the voters on a one to one basis.

Own Words:
While living in Chicago Ridge since child hood, I have always felt great pride in the growth and accomplishments of this Community. It has been my pleasure to be a part of this growth, as both a volunteer and a Trustee. The decisions made by me, as part of the Board are for the food of the Community. No one individual decides the faith of Chicago Ridge. Hard work, thought and discussion are all part of the process. I look at our new Village Hall and Police Department with pride. There were many hours of planning put into bringing what was sorely needed to this community. We now have a wonderful space for meetings of many organizations in a wholesome atmosphere. I take pride in having a History Room located in our facility. It was a dream I have had for a long time. I am looking forward to being a part of this board and the Village of Chicago Ridge for a long time to come.
