Welcome to Chicago Ridge!  We are pleased that you have selected the Village of Chicago Ridge as your home.  We are proud of our Village's past and its future.  We are even prouder that we have been able to maintain our small town atmosphere, despite our growth over the years.
 

Chicago Ridge takes its name from ridges that were created by trainloads of dirt brought out by the Wabash Railroad during construction of the Columbian Exposition of 1893.

Incorporated on October 17, 1914, the Village has an area of approximately 2.30 square miles and is located in the southwestern portion of Cook County, Illinois, which is about 20 miles southwest of downtown Chicago.

The early Village fathers promised to replace wooden sidewalks with cinder paths and to drain the stagnant waters from area swamps.  They accomplished those tasks and more.  Their successors then built on those early improvements with paved streets, sewers, street lights, and sidewalks.  They also brought Lake Michigan water to the area.

Over the years, recreational and cultural amenities including parks and a library, as well as business and industry were added to the picture.

The Chicago Ridge Mall at 95th and Ridgeland has over 130 stores and a six screen theater.  Additionally, the Chicago Ridge Commons at 99th and Ridgeland has over 55 strip stores.  Development is currently centered in the industrial sector, the Park at Chicago Ridge.
