Bryana started playing the violin at the age of 4 and since then has been part of few groups and orchestras. She is a Sophmore at Mother McAuley High School. Last year, Bryana participated in the school football band, competing band, marching band, orchestra, and orchestra ensemble. She was also a member of the Mariachi Herencia de Mexico and a member of Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. This year, she continued with the school orchestra, orchestra ensemble, and joined Choir. She now leads the Mariachi Herencia de Mexico mariachi group and is still a member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. In addition, she has joined 3-4 school clubs (sorry I lose track of these) and has kept her school grades and attendance up to par.
In May of 2017, Bryana and the mariachi group released their first debut album titled "Nuestra Herencia" (Our Heritage). “Nuestra Herencia” reached a #2 Top Latin Album designation on iTunes. It made history as the first major student mariachi album release with such great success in mariachi history.
The album was submitted to the Latin Grammys and nominated in the "Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album" category. The group will be traveling to Las Vegas in November of this year and will be attending the Latin Grammy Awards Ceremony on November 16, 2017. The awards will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas at 5:00 pm PST. The group will fly out on November 16 and return on November 19th (students will miss school Nov 16-18). The three days will be covered by press and media. We are not certain if the group will perform, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed. So far, news has spread quite a bit in the Chicago local media and papers. The group always welcomes the positive attention.
